Have you ever seen something that you thought ....Wow that's cool, but only part of it.  Take that shot.  Don't be afraid to self edit the shot.  Since there tends to be unseen parts of everything in pictures anyway, why not use this fact to your advantage?

I find it very interesting to shoot only part of something.  There are shapes surfaces and/or purely special parts alone of an object that just call out to be shot for their own sake.  I try to capture their longing.  When done right, they can be art on their own.
